What is Patriot Success?
The vision of the Patriot Success Initiative is to identify, develop, implement, and assess student-level interventions that will increase engagement, retention, and timely degree completion among George Mason University undergraduate students.
This initiative is led by a group of administrators, advisors, peers, and instructional faculty who work collaboratively to fully leverage the Beacon early alert platform and other technologies, as appropriate, to support student success.
Beacon is a web-based survey and early alert platform that supports the broader goals of the Patriot Success Initiative. Beacon connects students with a network of administrators, advisors, and instructional faculty to facilitate communication and data-driven interactions across these groups.
How does Patriot Success contribute to student retention and success?
Through purposeful interventions, conducted with students identified as at risk for leaving the institution, or interested in engaging in campus life, this initiative helps students get on track to stay at Mason and be successful. What is my role in all this? How can I help?
Our Mason community is critical in the success of this initiative. We look to you to promote the survey with students, help identify students who might be struggling on campus, and provide us guidance on trends and themes you see among the students with whom you work.
In order to aid in this effort, we’ve created a Patriot Success Advocate Kit. You can access those materials here! (Link to Patriot Success Advocate Kit 2 pager)
You can also volunteer (link to volunteer page) to help out at any of our events in the fall semester to promote student completion of the survey!
